Associations

Through our parent company, Darby Equipment Company, we are currently a member or associate member of many industry associations, including the Pipe Line Contractors Association, the Distribution Contractors Association, the American Pipeline Contractors Association, the International Pipe Line & Offshore Contractors Association, The Pipe Line Contractors Association of Canada and the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America.

We are proud of our membership in and support of these associations and their objectives.

Pipe Line Contractors
Association (PLCA)

The Pipe Line Contractors Association was established in 1948 and negotiates labor agreements, encourages safe practices in pipeline construction and seeks the resolution of problems common to all those in the industry. The Association negotiates and administers the National Pipe Line Agreements with the International Unions representing the four crafts of employees involved in pipeline construction. Regular Members must be engaged in pipeline construction or some phase thereof and have established a reputation for skill, integrity and responsibility. Associate members are engaged in the business of manufacturing, selling, leasing, or otherwise furnishing materials, supplies, services, insurance, bonds or equipment for the construction or maintenance of pipelines.

Darby Equipment has been an associate member of the Pipe Line Contractors Association since 1982 and has held leadership roles including Bobby Darby's current position as the elected Associate Representative to the PLCA Board of Directors.
Distribution Contractors
Association (DCA)

The Distribution Contractors Association was chartered in 1961 and negotiates labor agreements, promotes safe working conditions and addresses other issues in the industry. It is comprised of Regular members who provide specific distribution construction services, including the installation, replacement and rehabilitation of gas pipelines, Associate members who are equipment suppliers and service providers to the regular members and Industry members who are regularly employed as consultants, employees, officers, directors or elected officials of any corporation or governmental unit engaged in the distribution industry.

Darby Equipment has had a long standing history of involvement with the DCA including Lee Darby being elected as the first DCA Honorary member back in 1982. Bob Darby recently served on the DCA Strategic Planning Committee and currently serves as the DCA Associate Member Director.
American Pipeline Contractors Association (APCA) - An Association of Merit Shop Contractors
Rocky Mountain Contractor's Protective Association was the original name selected by seven merit shop pipeline contractors in January, 1971. The organization has grown from the original seven contractors from the Rocky Mountain region to a large group of contractors from throughout the United States.

The association promotes the mutual interests and addresses industry concerns of its members and associates. The scope of services range from security issues to providing key industry information and assistance, such as continuing education on labor and employment issues, laws and regulations, safety, environmental and other issues. The APCA continues its quest to support its members in their efforts to secure a fair operating environment in the pipeline industry.

Darby Equipment has had a long standing history of involvement with the APCA including Bobby Darby serving on the APCA Associate Board of Directors from 2004-2013.
International Pipe Line & Offshore Contractors Association (IPLOCA)
The International Pipe Line Contractors Association was founded in 1966 as part of the US Pipeline Contractors Association, then became fully independent in 1976 after a significant increase in membership. In 1988, the association was extended to include those companies working offshore in the oil and gas industry and on 5 May 1989, the International Pipe Line and Offshore Contractors Association (IPLOCA) was officially established.

IPLOCA's stated mission is to provide value to members through a forum for sharing ideas, engaging the industry and its stakeholders, facilitating business opportunities and promoting the highest standards in the pipeline industry.
The Pipe Line Contractors Association of Canada (PLCAC)

The Pipe Line Contractors Association of Canada was formed to represent contractors in labor relations matters and to establish training courses for the development of Canadian workers in special pipeline construction skills.

Over the years, the scope of the association has broadened to include occupational health and safety, legislative review, pipeline standards and codes, and a host of other activities.

The Association presently has 40 Regular Members, 87 Associate Members and 19 Honorary Members.

Interstate Natural Gas Association of America (INGAA)

The Interstate Natural Gas Association of America (INGAA) is a trade organization that advocates regulatory and legislative positions of importance to the natural gas pipeline industry in North America.

INGAA's members represent the vast majority of the interstate natural gas transmission pipeline companies in the U.S. and comparable companies in Canada. INGAA's members operate approximately 200,000 miles of pipelines, and serve as an indispensable link between natural gas producers and consumers.
